Buyer’s Guide

With so many options to choose from, a good way to decide which water shoes will be best for you is to think about what activities your child will be doing. There are three major things to include when thinking about what you want your child to be able to do.

Activities

The most important thing to think about is what your child will be doing. Though every option on the list is suitable for water activities, not every water activity is the same. If you’re expecting the activities to amount to a casual relaxation by the water or doing lots of land sports, then something light and comfortable might be perfect. On the other hand, if you expect to be around a lot of treacherous terrains than you’ll want something heavy-duty.

Protection

This section is related to the kinds of activities you’ll be doing, but even though water shoes in general offer more protection than bare skin, not every shoe will offer the same level of protection. If you expect to be walking for long periods or being around underwater hazards like coral, you’ll want your child to have a shoe with thick soles and fewer gaps.

Independence

If you have a little one that isn’t quite up to putting on their shoes by themselves then you might want to stick to shoes with straps as they’ll be easier for you to slip their little feet into and strap on, compared to slip on shoes that can bunch up and slip around.
